Red Bank, TN Facts and Attractions

The proximity to Chattanooga and all that city has to offer is also part of the reason for a stronger housing market.

The establishment of a post office in 1881 meant that the name of the town had to be changed from its original one of Pleasant Hill, since that name was already taken. Red Bank was chosen by the first postmaster’s wife. From a window in her home she could see a ridge of red clay, and it inspired thoughts of the name she selected. The town was incorporated in 1955 and linked with nearby White Oak. However, that made the name of the town too long. In 1966, a vote was taken, and White Oak was dropped from the name, making the entire Red Bank – White Oak area simply Red Bank.
